What I Did At the Office
One of the things I’ve always loved about my practice is that every day brings something new.
You might think that business transactional law is a narrow field with a lot of repetitive tasks. I learned while teaching my assistant, MayLan, that pretty much every day is different here. And that doesn’t even take into account that she’s also a personal admin who helps me keep track of various clubs and groups to which I belong.
So I thought I might, periodically, skim through things I’ve done recently. So in no particular order, last month among the NDAs, consulting agreements, trademark applications and updates filed, and miles of redlines, here are some things that got done.
- Finalized, hopefully, 18 months of negotiations, drafting and redlines on a resolution of a dispute about payments on one license settled with the modification of that license and the creation of a new one with international overtones.
- Advised a client on how to address a trademark infringer, and why a cease and desist letter may not be where to start.
- Started to prep for my Women in Business presentation for the Fort Worth Club.
- Updated my long ignored website.
- Rewrote my most used NDA templates with new AI prohibitions.
- Got a no-change, which means no payment due, on an independent contractor audit I handled.
- Settled two trademark disputes which was very unusual for me because they were the first two disputes I’ve had in years and they were almost simultaneous.
- Helped a client with an asset purchase deal, including redlining the APA, and helping with the business plan.
I guess perhaps it was more fun to do all of that, then write about it. Maybe I should stick to doing and leave the blogging to my husband.
